ABOUT MY WORK

6 Reasons I Love to Paint

1.     I know my eye, heart and hand will work together.

2.     I’ll get to spend hours outside of time, in an undefined zone that floats between abstraction and representation.

 3.     I’ll be surprised at every turn, and I won’t end up at my expected destination.

 4.     Something will exist that wasn’t here before – a new painting.

 5.     Sometimes color, memories, brushstrokes and feelings will combine to give me a sense of magic and beauty.

 6.     Sometimes a painting will give other people a sense of magic and beauty too.

ABOUT ME

Born in Georgia, and raised in Louisiana, I’ve spent much of my adult life in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Although for years, I’d admired others’ art work, I always thought of myself as a word person.  An intense MFA program in writing poetry helped me realize I was reaching for a visual, pre-word experience. So, I fell in love with brushes and color and painting.
